The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Garden’s "Taste of Art" is back for its second installment in our new virtual series, Women in the Collections. In this session, Gomez-Rejón focuses on El cocinero español (The Spanish Cook) by Encarnación Pinedo. Published in 1898, it is California’s first Spanish-language cookbook and one of the most important Mexican cookbooks in the United States.
The class begins with the history behind the cookbook and weaves in images from the Art and Botanical collections before concluding with a cooking demonstration of one or two dishes from the featured cookbook.
